Free Notebooking Pages
Notebooking is an excellent way for children to record what they are learning. A quick search on Pinterest will reveal countless notebooking pages designed for historical events, literature, holidays, and other themes. While it’s fun to occasionally use themed notebooking pages with colorful graphics, decorative borders, and topic-specific prompts, I typically prefer simple pages that will work for any subject.

Why Use Simple Notebooking Pages
These multipurpose notebooking pages eliminate the need to constantly make or find notebooking pages for every topic your children study, saving valuable time. Another plus is that they provide plenty of space for your child’s illustrations, allowing their creativity, rather than decorative clipart, to shine. Because there aren’t topic-specific prompts, the notebooking pages encourage your child to think more deeply about what information they choose to include. Finally, the image-free black-and-white design helps keep printing costs low.
When to Use Notebooking Pages
Notebooking pages give your child an open-ended space to write and illustrate what they are learning. While this approach can work well for almost any topic, here are some ideas for when your child could use notebooking:
Tracking what they learn during a unit study
Writing book or chapter summaries
Recording nature study observations
Summarizing historical events
Documenting field trips
Explaining the steps of a science experiment
The possible uses are endless!
