Many homeschoolers enjoy focusing on learning about Christmas during December. Christmas unit studies can provide a break from some of the kids’ usual studies while the family prepares for Christmas. Don’t let budget constraints keep you from adding a Christmas unit study to your homeschool. There are many free Christmas unit studies and lessons available online. Here are several free Christmas unit studies your family may enjoy this holiday season.

 

Christmas Around the World Unit Studies

Our Christmas Around the World unit studies each last five days. Choose just one country, or do all eleven units for nearly three months of learning about other countries’ Christmas traditions, culture, and geography. The countries covered are Australia, Canada, Brazil, Ethiopia, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, the Philippines, Russia, and Sweden.

 

The Birth of Jesus

This printable lesson from Free Sunday School Curriculum covers the birth of Jesus as told in Luke 2:1-20. The lesson includes a memory verse, a coloring page, worksheets, activities, a craft, and more.

 

12 Days of Christmas

DIY Homeschooler created this unit study based on the popular Christmas song “The Twelve Days of Christmas.” Each day the child will read or watch videos to learn about the gift given on that day of the song (pear trees, turtle doves, etc.). Then they will record what they’ve learned on printable notebooking pages or complete other activities.

 

Christmas Carols and Hymns

This unit study from DIY Homeschooler covers fifteen Christmas carols and hymns. Each song covered has links to the music, lyrics, and activities. Your family will spend one day on each song.

The Birth of Christ

God’s Hand in Our Lives created this lesson based on Luke 2:1-20. There are materials for five different age ranges. Each level’s lesson includes the Bible story, a prayer, a hymn, and age-appropriate activities.
