Road trips are a great way to include fun and learning. You can work on journaling, history, science, and play tons of road-trip themed games! Find a range of activities that are appropriate for a range of ages. Also, get tips on how to do the best road trip ever this year for your kids! Start your journey and drive away to your next adventure!

Tips

Plan your way!

Decide as a family where you’d like to go and how you’ll get there! This is a great educational opportunity for your kids to work with maps. Work together to find the best route and discuss how much driving you want to do before taking rests. Choose a few pitstops along the way to break up your trip.

Bring lots of entertainment

Your child should have their own toys and books to bring with them, so that they are busy throughout the trip! And they won’t be begging you to entertain them during the journey. But it’s a great time to listen to audiobooks as a family to keep your children’s minds busy as you ride along. Also consider road trip games (which you’ll find in this list) that help educate as well as provide a little stimulation!

Make sure your car is ready

Don’t leave without getting your car checked. Nothing ruins a road trip with unplanned breakdowns. Before you head out on the road, just double check that your road trip will be smooth and easy.

Get in some sneaky learning

Find ways to add in some learning time on your road trip. Stop at historical markers, walk through national parks, or spend a night in an interesting town. There are so many ways you could get creative with this, and your child won’t even realize they’re learning, they’ll just be having so much fun!
