1. Planting a Garden
The crown of these Spring activities has to be planting a garden, of course!
Help your children learn about plants, nature, and patience by cautiously placing seeds into the soil and sowing them in your backyard or in little pots.
We suggest you select something that will grow fast so kids can see the progress easily.
A great, more elaborate idea is to grow a full vegetable patch. You can find all the necessary elements—seeds, soil, pots, and even a complete gardening set for kids—at farmers’ markets and stores like Home Depot.
A great example of this activity is growing a bean. They germinate in about five to seven days and can be harvested in as little as six weeks.
For this one, you need to place a bean inside humid cotton and leave it in a crystal jar. Then, you can move it to a pot with soil when it starts growing roots.
These are more seeds that grow relatively quickly:
Radishes: Three to four weeks to mature
Lettuce: It germinates in two or three days
Spinach: They germinate in six days and can be harvested in six weeks
Cress: Depending on the variety, some can mature in a week

2. Art and Crafts
Get your children’s creative minds flowing by doing Spring activities like arts and crafts.
After spending the day outdoors, sometimes it’s important to have a relaxing time sitting at the table.
Pick an especially tiring day to color Spring printouts, help them cut out butterflies—the ultimate Spring symbol—as well as other shapes, and make bird feeders together.
This is a great opportunity to make bedroom decorations too!
Find a theme: flowers, bees, butterflies, insects, and make different sizes of them. Then, they can color them and paste different fabrics on top.
If your paper motifs have wings, you can hang them from the ceiling!
If you consider your kids old enough, you can show them how to make origami.
Another fun idea is to place their toys—say cows, lions, dinosaurs—in the sunlight during sunset. Then, they will project a shadow on the ground, where you can place a blank sheet and crayons or colored pencils so they can outline and color them.
But remember, the clock is ticking, and once the sun goes down, they won’t see the shadow anymore!

4. Scavenger Hunts
Kids love Spring activities like this one!
Scavenging outdoors is a great idea to keep them entertained and active. First, buy little prizes or toys that are relatable to the season. Then, hide them outside your home, at a park, or indoors depending on the weather.
Why don’t we turn this into one of the Spring activities in Spanish that we discussed?
Tell them what to look for in Spanish so they can connect the Spanish word with the figure, image, prize, or toy. If they find something else, they must put it back until they get to the correct item.
Another way of playing is to say the word in Spanish and let your kids point with their fingers or flag with little marks with pins on the object.
You can always switch places and let them read or call out these Spring words in Spanish as well.
Consider helping your kids make their hunter outfits from recycled materials if this is a whole-day activity.
You can do something crazy and paint cardboard, cut open plastic bottles, or simply cut out old magazines. You could offer them badges for every item they discover and collect them by pinning them to a sash.
Children can do a second scavenger hunt at night inside the house with a flashlight and a magnifying glass.
