Alphabet Sound Cards & Pages

Whether your introducing or reviewing letter sounds, these alphabet sound cards & pages are a GREAT resource for you and your learners!

I love these alphabet sound cards. Just cut apart and use. I recommend using them to introduce letter sounds. They can also be used in a flashcard-y way to review letters and their sounds. {They come in color and blackline.}

Each card features the uppercase and lowercase letter in print font, an image that begins with that letter*, and the mouth shape with the voiced/unvoiced sign to pronounce the letter.

Learners can tap each circle as they name the letter, name the picture, then make the letter’s sound. For example, as seen in the image above, the Dd card would sound like, “Dd, dog, /d/.” The Aa card would sound like, “Aa, apple, /a/.”

*The Letter Xx features the word box, for the ENDING sound of x. When x is in the final position, its sound is much more consistent, /ks/.

The Alphabet Pages also come in color and blackline. If you want to use them over and over again, I recommend laminating them or slipping them into a plastic sleeve protector.

Learners can “trace” the letter with their finger as they name the letter. The image then shows them how to position their mouth and if they use their voice or not. Learners then practice the sound three times at the top of each page.

Learners practice saying and listening for the sound at the beginning of each picture like, “bird, butterfly, balloon, bed, book, bee.”

If learners are struggling with a particular sound, you can have them tap the three circles at the top before they name each picture like this, “/b/ – /b/ – /b/ – bird.” This way, they are getting lots of practice with the sound.

Again, all of these resources are included in color AND blackline. If you’re using blackline copies, learners could use dot paint to dab inside each circle.
